Dr. Md Masumur Rahman, Director General of South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme (SACEP) has attended the ‘Monaco Ocean Week 2022’ and the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) steering committee meeting at Oceanographic Museum in Monaco. He is also participating in a workshop on ‘the sixth GCRMN status of coral reef of the world’ in Monaco organized by the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN) from 22-24 March 2022.
As GCRMN has the data and capacity on a regional scale about the Coral Reef, Dr Rahman requested for assistance to set up a platform in SACEP-SASP secretariat to host the data for SASP member states (Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka). Mr. Takehiro Nakamura, Chief of Marine and Costal Unit of UNEP strongly supported the approach raised by Dr Rahman based on the Regional Seas Programme such as SASP. GCRMN management welcome the proposal to work together with SACEP in future.
