SACEP officially opened its new state-of-the-art Headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 21 October 2025, marking a major milestone in regional environmental cooperation. The event was graced by Chief Guest Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr Dhammika Patabendi, Minister of Environment and senior government officials, diplomats, and development partners. Funded by The World Bank under the PLEASE Project and supported by the Government of Sri Lanka, the LEED Gold-certified building reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and inclusive design.
The new facility strengthens SACEP’s role as South Asia’s leading intergovernmental platform for environmental action, enabling deeper collaboration on shared challenges such as plastic pollution, climate change, and ecosystem degradation. With enhanced capacity for regional dialogue and innovation, this move represents a bold step forward in protecting the region’s natural heritage for future generations.
