SACEP and AIT Extension Hosts Strategic Planning Workshop in Bangkok with Participation from 07 Member Countries

The South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP), under the PLEASE Project, successfully convened its On-Site Strategic Planning Workshop from 2–3 September 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop was organized in partnership with AIT Extension as part of the ongoing Institutional Capacity Assessment of SACEP.

The event brought together representatives from seven SACEP member countries. This diverse participation provided a dynamic platform for open dialogue, collaboration, and forward-looking planning to strengthen SACEP’s institutional capacity.

Over two days, participants engaged in interactive sessions, including country group exercises, brainstorming discussions, and collaborative planning activities. Key highlights of the workshop included:

In his keynote address, Mr. Norbu Wangchuck, Director General of SACEP, highlighted the importance of collective action to address regional and global environmental challenges. He emphasized SACEP’s role in facilitating regional cooperation to drive sustainable solutions.

The workshop concluded with a strong sense of ownership among participants, ensuring that the outcomes will directly inform the final Capacity Assessment Report and strategic recommendations for SACEP’s future direction.

This milestone event reaffirmed SACEP’s commitment to advancing sustainable environmental management and promoting stronger regional cooperation in South Asia.
