On 24th January 2024, Ms. Cecile Fruman, Director of Regional Integration and Engagement for the South Asia Region, Mr. Joseph Ese Akpokodje, Team Leader for the PLEASE Project, and Ms. Disna Bandara, World Bank focal point for the PLEASE Project met with the Director General of SACEP Ms.Rokeya Khaton and other officials at the SACEP Secretariat. The meeting provided a platform for fruitful discussions on the ongoing progress of the PLEASE Project and its future trajectory.
They also explored the avenues for broader collaboration between the World Bank and SACEP in areas of mutual interest. The discussions delved into how the World Bank could further assist the member states of South Asia in addressing shared challenges and fostering regional development.
The visit underscored the commitment of both the World Bank and SACEP to strengthen cooperation and maximize the impact of initiatives in the region. The collaborative efforts aim to contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of South Asian countries.
