SACEP and Indian Coast Guard to sign the Oil and Chemical spill MoU

Oil and Chemical spill MoU was signed by SACEP and Indian Coast Guard

Oil and Chemical spill MoU was signed by SACEP and Indian Coast Guard on the 12th of May 2018 at Colombo, Sri Lanka. The National and Regional Oil and Chemical Spill Contingency Plan was developed with the financial support by NORAD and technical support by IMO. The Oil and Chemical Spill Contingency Plan will greatly help in mitigating the impacts of the oil and chemical spill incidences in terms of early warning, response and rehabilitation in the Indian Ocean.

Four other member countries of the South Asian Seas Programme (SASP), Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka has already signed the Oil and Chemical Spill Contingency Plan for controlling and mitigating any incidence of Oil and Chemical spill in the Indian Ocean. This MoU was signed by the Director General, Indian Coast Guard and Director General, SACEP on the 12th May 2018 at Colombo, Sri Lanka.
